The Waterfall

Time hangs here
like a frozen waterfall
while sounds of life
outside the open window
snake in and around
this suspended moment.
Saxophone notes
slide into a space
all too here and now.

And what would it take
to get you moving again?
Moving into a lush, colourful, vibrant stream
of light-reflecting water, crashing with joyful abandon
into the big, wide, splashing river beyond?
